Dr. Beyer came to CIU in 1985 to teach Bible. He served as undergraduate academic dean from 1994–2001; dean of students from 2001–2004; and faculty member in the Seminary & School of Ministry from 2004–2011, prior to assuming his role as associate provost and dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. Dr. Beyer retired in 2020 and was awarded professor emeritus.
Since 1997, Dr. Beyer has served as Chair of the Associated Schools for Jerusalem University College, and since 2003, as General Bible/Old Testament Book Review Editor for the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society (JETS). He has served as faculty advisor to the International Students Ministries at CIU and regularly takes students to Israel on summer study tours. His overseas ministry has included teaching at Portantorchas Bible School in Costa Rica, at the Center for Christian Leadership in Tirana, Albania, at CIU’s branch campus in Korntal, Germany, and Israel study tours for church groups.
Dr. Beyer enjoys the outdoors, as well as spending time with his family. His desire is to help students however he can to know God better, find His direction and fully go after it. Indeed, Dr. Beyer’s desire to impact the lives of students is what gets him up in the morning!
