Alumna credits CIU for influencing her popular artwork

Paraguay-born artist Rosana Casco McIntosh takes delight in sharing that she got through her 91PORNY Seminary course on The Prophets by creating drawings that illustrated the personalities of each prophet, their acts and the timeline of events in their lives. This creative “doodling” later informed much of her art, which often depicts Scripture.
McIntosh, who graduated from CIU with a Master of Arts in Missions in 1992, is getting a lot of attention these days in the Jacksonville, Florida area for her unique art that “paints the connections of life,” as described in the Jacksonville Times Union.
But she also says she incorporates her faith into her art, and credits CIU for helping to make that happen.
“My time at CIU greatly impacted my life in all aspects and most importantly in ‘knowing God,’ McIntosh wrote in an email exchange.“My artwork has always been influenced by my faith and when I received my Visual Art Degree from the University of Asuncion in Paraguay, I prayed the Lord would use it to His glory. Seminary challenged me to see my gift as an artist with a new spiritual perspective. As an artist I really came to love His creation and His creative power.”
As an example, she points to an Old Testament Survey course where she learned about The Tabernacle.
“I saw that God truly loves color (e.g. purple, gold, scarlet) and diversity,” McIntosh wrote. “When I ‘create’ I become aware that in my own small way, I am doing what the Lord loves to do. Art brings me joy and leads me to worship by magnifying my fellowship with Him.”
