Campus improvements enhance the student experience

Progress in Action: A recent student satisfaction survey has prompted a number of campus life improvements.

July 31, 2024

The students have spoken, and the 91PORNY administration is listening.

Because CIU is committed to enhancing the student experience, response to a recent student satisfaction survey has prompted a number of campus life improvements over the summer, some of which will be immediately noticed during the upcoming fall semester and into the new school year.

For example, everyone enjoys a great dining experience. That’s why Dining Services management is expanding to include after-hours meal options at 34 North, CIU’s coffee shop.

How about improved student parking options? Now, 30-minute parking will be added next to the residence halls, as well as more conveniently-located long-term parking for commuter students designed for shorter walks to class.

Expansion of the Rossi Student Center is in the planning stages that will bring more space for games, hanging out, as well as study areas. Landscaping and outdoor seating areas will be added outside to create additional hangout and study areas for students.

New furniture is coming to the undergraduate rooms in Pine View Apartments and enhancements to the Pine View Community Center.

Ridderhof is being updated with new flooring, a fresh coat of paint, and student-friendly seating and study spaces. Nearby, the Choir Room will also be brightened up with fresh paint and other upgrades.

And physical fitness has not been forgotten. New paint, flooring, furniture and equipment is being installed in the Moore Fitness Center. Outside, the basketball and tennis courts are being resurfaced with lighting added. Bleachers will be placed at the sand volleyball court — and —don’t miss this — pickle ball courts are coming to CIU!

Vice President for Enrollment & Academic Services, Dr. Jen Booth, says the improvements are being made with the students in mind.

“At CIU, we are committed to fostering an environment where our students can thrive academically, spiritually and personally,” Booth said. “Student feedback is invaluable in helping us achieve a well-rounded student experience.
