Is there a mental health crisis in America?
June 26, 2023
91PORNY Professor of Counseling Dr. Seth Scott says we’re seeing a spike in loneliness and mental health issues in the United States.
Scott made the comments on the “God is the Issue” podcast with Brad Bright, the son of Campus Crusade for Christ founder Bill Bright.
“Loneliness precedes anxiety, depression and addiction,” Scott said. “More people would respond with ‘zero’ in the number of friends they can call on than ever before.”
He notes that loneliness is a symptom of the struggle to connect well with others because “the nature of the fall of sin is a disconnection between God, ourselves, one another and creation.”
And that affects culture.
“What we’re seeing is the erosion in our culture of the foundation of Judeo-Christian principles of connection in relationship … we’re seeing the ramification of selfishness, of self-pursuit as would explain,” Scott said.
